Bill Rosenfield is a transplanted American playwright now living permanently in the UK. He holds a BA in Dramatic Literature from Hofstra University.

Prior to turning his attention to playwriting, he had a career in the recording industry in New York as the Executive Producer of over 65 original cast recordings, which garnered over 30 Grammy nominations, beginning with the original production of Assassins as well as The Who’s Tommy, Ragtime, Chicago, Parade, The Full Monty, A New Brain, Caroline (or Change) and Avenue Q, ending approximately 20 years later with the revival of HAIR. In 2023 he was brought out of his self-imposed retirement to co-produce the recording of Stephen Sondheim’s final musical, Here We Are. Among the awards he has received are two Drama Desk Awards (1992 and 2002), an SDC Foundation Governor’s Award and a Richard Rodgers Award (2006). Alongside his husband, the late Gary Gunas, he can be seen on the popular web series “Old Show Queens” created and produced by Jeff Marx (Avenue Q) and Andrew Hawkins.
