A Prince He Would A-Wooing Go

A satirical adaptation of the story of Cinderella. This Cinderella is an intellectual as well as a beauty and can stick up for herself against the ridiculous and bickering stepsisters and stepmother, although she will retreat when it seems the wisest course. She disbelieves the old beggar-woman's prophecies, and she snubs the Prince, who is a snob and a boor. Despite the fawning of her family when they realise she may become a princess, she sends the Prince packing and returns to her work, her shepherd sweetheart and her books.
