Description
A day in the activities of "The Helping Hands". This is a society run by Lady Amberley with the admirable purpose of helping people in every way - advice, engaging of servant, finding houses and flats, furnishing, decorating, exercising dogs, anything and everything. On the particular day in question things do not pan out quite serenely. Mrs Beagle engages the society to meet her boy at Charing Cross and convey him to The Nest, Streatham. A boy is duly brought to The Nest, but it is not the Beagle boy and Mrs Beagle turns up at the office to dole out hatred and malice, and make inquiries as to her son's whereabouts. Lady Amberley has taken Pansy into the office to oblige her aunt as it is hoped that such occupation will cause the girl to break off her association with a film actor. The film actor has had the embarrassing attentions and passionate devotion of the Duchess of St Ives most unwillingly thrust upon him. The Duchess gets to know that Pansy and the film actor are devoted to one another and then that her child is at The Nest, Streatham, where he has been conveyed in mistake for the Beagle Boy.
