C. Quintana

CQ Quintana is a queer playwright with Cuban roots, whose work has been produced in New York, New Orleans, Atlanta, and beyond. Most recently, CQ's play CITIZEN SCIENTIST, a commission by the Ensemble Studio Theatre Alfred P. Sloan Project, was selected as runner-up for Barrington Stage Company's Burman New Play Award. She received a 2018 fellowship from MacDowell Colony and is a current WP Lab Member. The publication of her play SCISSORING (Finalist Alliance/Kendeda National Playwriting Competition), which had its world premiere at INTAR in New York City, is published and licensed by Dramatists Play Service. Her play AZUL, which was on the 2017 Kilroys List, will have its world premiere at Southern Rep as part of the Tennessee Williams/Saints and Sinners Literary Festival. Other plays and musicals include: EVENSONG (Astoria Performing Arts Center); GUMBO (FLMTF’s The Pitch, Yale Institute for Music Theatre), and ENTER YOUR SLEEP (Elm Theatre New Orleans, FringeNYC). She has received commissions from Ensemble Studio Theatre, Actor’s Express, and Peppercorn Theatre, and fellowships from Queer/Art and Lambda Literary. She is currently working on a new collection of Mad Libs for Penguin Random House, and a collection of essays. She received her MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University and is a member of EST's Obie-winning group Youngblood. www.cquintana.com
