Dan Knechtges

Dan Knechtges is a Tony-nominated director and choreographer whose work spans Broadway, opera, concert dance, television, film, and music videos. As Artistic Director of TUTS, he revitalized the company by returning to its roots – producing acclaimed, fully self-produced seasons that blended local and national talent, earning multiple Houston Press Theater Awards, including Best Season. On Broadway, his credits include Lysistrata Jones (direction & choreography), Xanadu (Tony and Drama Desk nominations), Sondheim on Sondheim, 110 in the Shade with Audra McDonald, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Drama Desk and Lortel nominations). Off-Broadway, his credits include Tail! Spin! (Rachel Dratch), Clinton: The Musical (Kerry Butler, Judy Gold), Merrily We Roll Along at City Center Encores!, and Vanities at Second Stage, among others. His work also appears at regional theaters nationwide and at Disney Parks with the Disney Jr. Dance Party. A graduate of Otterbein College, Dan hails from Cleveland, Ohio, and is an active member of the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society, serving on its board and foundation supporting the work of directors and choreographers nationally and internationally.
