Ted Shen is a musical theatre composer based in Brooklyn, NY. He retired from a 30-year business career in 1999 to return to his music roots as a jazz musician and composer developed in high school and college. His musical theatre works include A Second Chance (Signature Theatre, VA and The Public Theater, NY); Just One ‘Q’ with Ellen Fitzhugh (Premieres, NY); Broadbend, Arkansas with Ellen Fitzhugh and Harrison David Rivers (Transport Group and The Public Theater, NY; The Studio Theatre, Tierra Del Sol, FL); and We Shall Someday with Harrison David Rivers (Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Theater Latté Da, Joe’s Pub and Signature Theatre, VA). Together with his wife, Mary Jo, Ted oversees The Ted & Mary Jo Shen Charitable Gift Fund, a foundation dedicated to supporting the work of exceptionally original musical theater composers and ballet choreographers.
