Ron Nicol
Ron Nicol is an award-winning Scottish playwright published in the UK, United States and the Netherlands. He has written more than 50 one-act dramas, comedies, plays for young people, full-length plays and pantomimes. His work has been produced in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Minorca. His adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen has had more than 150 productions worldwide, and there is now an abridged version available. Five of his one-act plays have won writing prizes, and productions of his plays have won more than 120 awards between them at drama festivals in the UK, USA and Canada. A production of Beware the Jabberwock won the Scottish National Youth Festival Final in 2012 and Primrose Way appeared at the Scottish National Final in 2017. In the Queen’s 2021 Birthday Honours, Mr Nicol was awarded the British Empire Medal for Services to Amateur Drama. Mr Nicol is also published in the UK by Stagescripts Ltd.
