Summary
On the Feast of Stephen, the Chancellor of Bohemia is preparing a surprise for the King - a golden statue. The King, however, is beginning to have doubts about the difference between his wealth and the poverty of his subjects, a difference created, without his knowledge, by his Chancellor's cruelly hard taxes.
