The play takes place in the General Manager's office of the Thurlow Playhouse.   Two exits, one window.

History
1999:  First presented under the title "Stage Struck" by the Guild Players at the Kilshawe Theatre, Deal, Kent.

Valerie:   The General Manager's secretary.  30s, attractive young lady. Weighed down by the pressures of her job and her unhappy love-life.

Alec Partridge:  The General Manager.   50s. Affable and apparently unflappable.  Manages to keep his sense of humour despite his problems.

Lulu Lynchpin:  The Stage Manager, tough, capable, dependable.  30s-50s.

Doreta Mason:  An former actress, glamorous but struggling to look younger.  Sophisticated but secretly vulnerable. 40s

Murphy:  The Front of House Manager, 30s-40s.  An attractive flirt, charming, unambitious, easy-going.

Rita: A barmaid.  30s.  Fussy, pretty, kind and popular.

Ms Murdstone:  From the Arts Council.  Prim and severe, in a position of power and knows it.  40-50.

Clarence Mason:  A local councillor and Chair of the Theatre Trust and Doreta's husband.  A pompous bully, domineering and aggressive.   50s.
