Summary

Alexander Dumas’s rip-roaring yarn of derring-do, palace intrigue, and slushy amour, seamlessly transplanted to Pantoland.
Here we find those famous swashbucklers, Porthos, Aramis, Athos and D’Artagnan, effortlessly recast as a bevy of roistering, thigh slapping lovelies – Principal Garcons par excellence. Throw in the despicable Cardinal Richeleeugh, his debauched sidekick Le Chevalier Du Lobster Roquefort, a clutch of other eminently hissable villains, plus a giant pantomime snail, and you have all the ingredients for un panteau cordon bleu.
With no opportunity missed to involve the audience, the chance to incorporate around a dozen musical numbers, and loads of truly wicked jokes at the expense of our near, dear neighbours, the French. The Three Musketeers – Le Panteau! offers all that’s best about traditional festive entertainment, but with the added attraction of a colourful new setting based on an established and well-loved tale.
Most amateur societies have twice as many female actors as male actors, yet most pantomimes provide for only two or three female principals. Well this show boasts seven, with the avowed intention to give the ladies a fair crack of the whip. And the chance to show they can roister and swashbuckle with the best of them!
Provision is made in the script for the inclusion of twelve musical numbers.
