Alice in Wonderland is a full-length fantasy by Eva Le Gallienne and Florida Friebus, adapted from Lewis Carroll. Originally produced and later revived on Broadway, this is the most successful dramatic version of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
Join Alice down the rabbit hole as she discovers the magic of Wonderland. “Curiouser and curiouser,” animals speak in riddles, nonsense makes sense, and the adventures of young Alice reveal her pluck, intelligence and imagination. Since this adaptation contains elements of Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice in Wonderland, as well as the book’s sequel, Through the Looking Glass, it offers myriad opportunities for multiple role-playing over a large range or types and ages. Especially recommended for school and contest use, Alice in Wonderland honours the beloved and iconic text while introducing us to an Alice that will delight present-day audiences of all generations. Eva Le Gallienne and Florida Friebus wanted to create a production of Alice in Wonderland that was true to Lewis Carroll’s words, combined the best moments and characters from Alice in Wonderland and its sequel, and made both books come to life. This fantastical tale, full of clever wordplay and timeless characters, is as beloved by adults as by children.
The play is regularly performed in repertory, college, middle school, high school and community theatre productions.
