For years, Nurses Iver and Boone had been looking after wealthy old Mrs Deeming. When she died they expected to inherit £500 but to their delight the amount was £100,000. That, at least, is their story - but there is something very sinister indeed going on. When the late Mrs Deeming's lawyer asks to see Nurse Boon to obtain a signature he is fobbed off with the excuse that she is ill - and he is later shot dead. It might, of course, been his wife who shot him - she has just surprised him kissing his secretary and actually threatened him with a gun. Superintendent Forrest is puzzled by certain discrepancies but helped by the ever-willing servant Florence he solves the case.
