Summary
Grannie, who lives with her great-grandson Harry and his wife Joyce, has apparently made such a nuisance of herself that Harry has left the house and refuses to return until she has been sent packing. In desperation to find suitable accommodation for the old lady his mother Ida has rashly promised to pay her fare to wherever she will consent to go. But Grannie is not helpful, and no-one wants her, neither Ida nor her sister Susan, not even their brother Bertie in Aberdeen. At last Grannie agrees, holding Ida to her promise, to go to her other grand-daughter Marion. Alone with Joyce, Grannie confesses that her row with Harry was a put-up job: she had always wanted to join Marion, but she couldn't afford the fare - to South Africa.
