Summary

When Maud Vernon receives a cable from her nephew in Singapore she is at a complete loss to make head or tail of it. She has previously had a letter from him saying that he has become engaged to be married and that he hopes, should his fiancee who is known as "Pussie" return home before he does, that his autn will be able to put her up; but this telegram seems to have no bearing on this or any other subject. And then Clara Hartley arrives at the flat, announces that she is "Pussie" and asks Maud to take her in. Almost immediately Eileen Jeffreys arrives and she too claims to be "Pussie". It appears that nephew Jack has an unfortunate habit of calling all the girls he becomes engaged to by the name of "Pussie". Clara and Eileen are left to argue it out between them while Maud goes to the post office to see if a mistake has been made in the telegram. Both the "Pussies" decide to stay on the spot till Jack comes home to clear up the muddle in person. But Maud returns, having discovered that the code of the cable had been changed and that the message really means that Jack has already married somebody quite different.
