Summary
"I think so."
"But you're not absolutely sure of it?"
"We can't be sure of anything these days"
An unnamed couple, Man and Woman, are relaxing in their chic city apartment after a late party, when the Woman comes across a startling statistic: "every twenty minutes somebody in America kills himself." The Man is unimpressed, reflecting that he and his wife belong to "the generation of fish: We sink or swim and nobody gives a damn which." The Woman, however, fights her husband's glib resignation and searches instead for some remaining glimmer of life.
A part of the collection The Magic Tower and Other One-Act Plays.
