The woman, in her seventies, appears to have survived a traumatic experience, though she continually denies her participation in the very stories she tells.
History
Not I premiered in New York City at Lincoln Center's Forum Theatre on November 22, 1972. Directed by Alan Schneider, the production starred Jessica Tandy as the Mouth and featured Henderson Forsythe in the silent role of the Auditor.
