When Wendy refuses to leave the nursery and sleep downstairs, her mother gives her a mysterious box containing Peter Pan‘s shadow. Unable to resist, Wendy opens it, Peter arrives, and they're off to Neverland! But even there, Wendy must learn what it means to grow up. Full of enchanting music and beloved characters, this fast-paced adaptation of Barrie‘s Peter and Wendy is a treat for children of any age.

Peter Pan and Wendy premiered at the Emerald City Theatre Company in Chicago, Illinois in 2009. Directed by Matthew Gunnels, the production featured Allison Lind, Michael Kingston, Jamila Turner and Ryotaro Shiegata.
WENDY DARLING – Female. She is too old for the nursery. DR. GEORGE DARLINE – Male. Wendy's Father MRS. DARLING – Female. Wendy's mother. PETER PAN – Male. A hero of sorts. TINKERBELL – A fairy. Imagined as a lighting/sound effect. TOOTLES – A lost boy. SLIGHTLY – Another lost boy. CAPTAIN HOOK – Male. The pirate leader. SMEE – Male. A pirate. TIGER LILY – Female A Native Princess. GIGI – All Genders. A mermaid. ARIEL – All Genders. A littler mermaid. CROCODILE – A crocodile.
While there are 13 characters, the cast size can shrink with doubling. Tinkerbell is imagined as a lighting/sound effect. Crocodile was a shared costume donned by two separate performers. The original performance utilized seven performers as follows: Wendy, Peter Pan, Mr. Darling/Captain Hook, Mrs. Darling/Tiger Lily/Crocodile, Tootles/Gigi, Slightly/Ariel/Crocodile, Smee.
