Overview

At the time of St Augustine's mission to Britain, a young Christian soldier, Hoel, is captured by the Jutes. He is threatened with death, and later crucified, but others are converted through these events to Christianity, forsaking the Norse gods such as Thor. As the play ends the voices of Augustine's men are heard singing in the distance. Contained in the volume Plays Three
