Overview
Rattling the Railings deals with an ever-present problem, what to do with the "old 'un". For fifteen years Alec and Brenda have looked after Alec's lively but somewhat trying Dad. Now, however, Alec's sister Pauline has left her fifth-floor flat for a bungalow, and is no longerencumbered with a husband, and Brenda feels it is high time that she, Pauline, undertook her share of Dad's care. Pauline declares that she has no intention of giving up her various plans to do this; but when Dad is brought to stay with her while Alec and Brenda go on holiday it appears she may be having a change of attitude.
