Tom MacRae

Tom is a multi-award winning screenwriter, producer, playwright, lyricist and author, and a double BAFTA nominee and Olivier Theatre Awards nominee. Working on some of the UK’s biggest TV shows (including Doctor Who for which he was nominated for a Hugo Award) he also created the Comedy Central sit-com Threesome, which won the Montreux Comedy Award, before moving to the US to work as a writer/producer on TNT’s The Librarians. His musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie for which he provided both book and lyrics, opened in London’s West End in November 2017 for an open-ended run, and has been the smash hit of the season, garnering across the board five-star reviews, sold out houses, and winning the prestigious UK Theatre Award for Best New Musical and the Writer’s Guild Great Britain Award for Best Musical Theatre Bookwriting. It opened in Los Angeles in February 2022 for a limited season at the Ahmanson Theater, and has multiple versions running concurrently around the world in a variety of languages. The Everybody’s Talking About Jamie movie, produced by Amazon Studios with lyrics and screenplay by Tom, dropped in 2021 on Amazon Prime and currently holds an 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Tom was made an honorary doctor of the arts by Sheffield Hallam University in 2018.
