Stevie Holland

Stevie Holland is a jazz vocalist, playwright, lyricist and performer.

She created the one-woman musical Love, Linda: The Life of Mrs. Cole Porter with award-winning composer Gary William Friedman. Love, Linda enjoyed a successful Off-Broadway Premiere at the York Theatre 2013-2014 and returned to the Triad Theater for a special limited engagement in October 2018, starring Holland with direction by Richard Maltby, Jr.

Her jazz vocal recordings include Life Goes On, which received acclaim from jazz, pop and cabaret critics, and Before Love Has Gone, which made the critic’s list as a Top CD of the Year at USA Today. Jazz journalist Gary Giddins penned the Liner Notes.

Holland grew up in a music-filled, Norwegian-Italian household in Westchester County, New York, and studied drama at New York University. She worked as a performer and lyricist in her early career and then forged a steady songwriting collaboration with composer Gary William Friedman, whom she eventually married.

Their collaboration has led to several internationally acclaimed jazz vocal albums, an array of songwriting projects including a theme song for the Rock n’ Roll Hall-of-Famer/radio talk show host Joey Reynolds, which was played nightly on his national WOR Radio program, commercials and documentaries, and a variety of musical theater projects.

Her current musical theater projects include Merton of the Movies and a new adaptation of the musical Platinum.
