Summary
Lexi has just transferred into a new high school and is hoping to make a fresh start. She starts to make friends and is thriving in the new environment. Chloe, the leader of one of the most elite social groups, invites Lexi to join them and things are looking up. Then she meets Jackson, who is different, and in order to stay in her group she has to confront racism and bullying. Ultimately, she has to choose between her new friends and doing what’s right at a huge personal cost.

This show comes with a teaching guide that will highlight relevant themes from the story and encourage students to closely examine their own personal views on race and bullying.

The Chicken Soup For the Soul Musical Series is a growing collection of mini-musicals based on real stories with a positive message. The Chicken Soup for the Soul Musical Series was written specifically for teens and as a result there are no adult characters parts. The shows were created to be “casting-flexible” and so any of the parts can be cast multi-racially. In addition, it is our goal to involve as many students in the productions as possible and so you are encouraged to expand the chorus to whatever size works for you.

This show is about race and bullying. One of the main conflicts in the story is that the lead character Lexi has to choose between being in a group with people of her own race and falling in love with a boy from another race.

We encourage you to adapt the casting to your situation but it is crucial that Lexi and Jackson are different races.

In addition this show has allot of ensemble parts that can be doubled up.
