A riotous sequel to The Importance of Being Earnest, Without Apologies follows the adventures of the couples from Oscar Wilde’s famous comedy. Now fallen on hard times, all must learn to adapt when a penniless Cecily and Ernest arrive unexpectedly on the doorstep of Gwen and Algernon’s humble London abode. Panic ensues as this wild comedy of intertwining plots races to its farcical conclusion.
Without Apologies was first presented at The Pittsburgh Playhouse at the Craft Avenue Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on 16 April 1983. It was directed by Alan R. Belknap. The play was subsequently presented at the Hudson Guild Theatre in New York City on 12 February 1989. It was directed by Edgar Lansbury.
