She finds it a traumatic experience and in spite of Queenie’s assurances that ‘there are worse places’ she adamantly insists she cannot stay. This is not what she is used to. Having realised that she has no choice but to put up with the situation a visit from her daughter-in-law forces her to accept that she may be a resident there far longer than she anticipated.
