In the face of the outbreak of WWII, the Wright family are torn apart when their children are evacuated, sweethearts are separated, and the bombing reaches a crescendo in what came to be known as The Liverpool Blitz. Loosely based on Gail’s family history, the drama focuses on Jessie and Peter Wright, their three children and the extended Wright family. The war is viewed through the eyes of those left on the home front back in Bootle, Liverpool, where everyone desperately awaits news of their loved ones.
