Henry's Wives (The Much-Married Musical)

Overview

The Henry in question is Henry VIII of England and here his six famous wives and their stories are given a light-hearted and slightly irreverent treatment. Staying with the known facts of events but gently fabricating circumstances, this is an exciting and fast-moving glimpse at a slice of English history. Songs in Henry's Wives include "The Grape and the Vine" "The Perfect Woman" "Kings and Clowns" and "Husbands and Wives". The musical can be staged quite simply with minimum casting or can be elaborate with added chorus, as circumstances allow. The musical was first seen in London under the title Kings and Clowns, featuring Frank Finlay, Elizabeth Counsell and Dilys Watling.
