Summary
In a shabby barracks the Colonol helps the General dress. Both are old and tired. The General thinks he is preparing to review the Chasseurs; the Colonol is concealing the fact they are to face a firing squad. A gesture reveals the truth to the General, but he walks forward proud and erect. A very moving play with fine parts for the Colonel and General.
