Summary

It's a normal day in high school, when suddenly Brian’s life is changed forever. Across the room he spots Lona. Even though he has seen her every day for most of his life, there is something strangely different about her. Suddenly, she is the center of his universe and he is desperate to ask her out. Brian sets out on a quest to meet Lona while trying not to make a fool out of himself. This sweet coming of age story focuses on taking emotional risks and accepting the consequences whatever they may be. Every teenager is faced with making decisions that will expose them up to criticism. This story is about a teen who decided that in order to get anywhere in life, you have to get off the sidelines and go for it.

This show comes with a teaching guide that will highlight relevant themes from the story and encourage students to closely examine taking risks, friendships and discovering yourself.

The Chicken Soup for the Soul Musical Series was written specifically for teens and as a result there are no adult characters parts. The shows were created to be “casting-flexible” and so any of the parts can be cast multi-racially. In addition, it is our goal to involve as many students in the productions as possible and so you are encouraged to expand the chorus to whatever size works for you.
